Eagles Host Jarrell

by Mike Organ

The Jarrell Cougars come to town this Friday night for the first District 12-2A DII game of the season. The Cougars are 2-2 for the season with wins over Moody 37-14 and Bartlett 40-28. Their losses came to Crawford 40-0 in the opening game and to Johnson City 26-25.

Spencer Taylor is the leading rusher for the Cougars with 461 yards on 54 carries. Jesse Espinosa is the second leading rusher with 279 yards on 40 tries. The Cougars don’t pass much averaging about six passes per game, completing about three. Taylor is a former Lexington Eagle, playing defensive back the last two years.

Jarrell is coming off a 0-10 season in 2009 with only four offensive and six defensive starters back. Jarrell is much improved according to Coach Jason Holcomb. They have won two games after last season’s victory shut out.
