Verna Mae Benford

July 17, 1941-September 19, 2010

Verna Mae Benford was born July 17, 1941 in Lee County, Texas to William Isiah and Emma (Daniels) Govan. She lived all of her life in Lee County, until she moved to Rockdale the past four years.

Verna Mae had joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lincoln at an early age. She and Troy Benford were married and she had worked as the cook at Giddings Senior Citizens Center.

Verna Mae passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010 in the Seton Williamson County Hospital in Round Rock, having reached the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy in 2004. Her parents and five brothers.

Surviving; Step daughter, Nancy Murphy; Very special niece, Gloria Bell; Great nieces and nephews, Sonya Anderson and husband Steven, Omar Bell, Kiki Cashaw, Shacola Anderson, Shacyla Anderson, Breylin Wilson, Reagan Elliott; Extended family, Jackie Bell, Lois Bell, Marsha Harris, Kenya Brach; and, Special friend, Cheryl Champange.

Funeral services for Verna Mae Benford are 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Lincoln with burial following in Copperas Cemetery near Doak Springs with Rev. Evva McDowell officiating.

Pallbearers; Steven Bridges, Breylin Wilson, Malcolm Harris, Hope Spratley, Harry McBride, Omar Bell.
