Emegene Mims Rodgers

February 24, 1929 - September 19, 2010

Emegene Mims Rodgers was born February 24, 1929 in Taylors Valley in Bell County. Her parents were the late E. J. Mims and Olgun Harmon Mims.

She and Joe E. Rodgers were married in Lexington, Texas on June 1, 1946. To this union, twin daughters were born. She served as the City Secretary for the City of Lexington for 25 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lexington and active in Senior Citizens activities.

Emegene died early Sunday morning, September 19, 2010 at the Copperas Hollow Nursing and Rehab Center having reached the age of 81 years. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 25, 2002.

Her survivors include: twin daughters, Sandra Sue Kalmbach and husband Henry of Lexington and Pansy Lou Ellison and husband Hugo of Flynn, Texas; grandchildren, Jody Kalmbach and wife Trish of Giddings, Mimzie Dennis and husband Craig of Lexington, Shane Ellison and wife Stephanie of Tomball, and Todd Ellison and friend Melissa Hiser of Flynn; and great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Ashton, Kennedee, Tanna, Bodie, Ryan, and Lauren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Lexington with Gary Roe of Southern Care Hospice officiating. Burial followed in the Lexington Cemetery. Pall Bearers were Neil Ahrendt, Kevin Ahrendt, Jerry Poston, Jr., Rick Morris, Finnie Mullins and Philip Kalmbach. Honorary Pall Bearers were Robert Ahrendt, Walter Exner, Bill Morris, Don Quinney, Jerry Poston, Sr., Clyde Bexley and Charles Patschke.

Memorials to be made in her memory can be directed to Southern Care Hospice.
