Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

Lexington Exes had memorable opening games in College last week. Ronnie Willrich played for Southeast Oklahoma, first cousin Andrew Wolridge was credited with a tackle in Texas A&M’s win, and Jimmy Terrell intercepted a pass with a 33-yard return for McMurry and had four tackles credited to him. It is great to see our exes having success at the next level of competition.

Amanda Dowdy was a preseason all-Big XII pick. She has had some All-America talk also. Quite a big thing for a girl from a little 2A school.

The Cowboys did more ‘dumb’ things in losing Sunday night than the Middle School teams did in their first outing. Super Bowl? If they don’t get their act together, they may not even make the playoffs.

I have been going to football a long time and I don’t remember a team not getting at least one first down in a game. That is quite and accomplishment for the Eagles defense.
