Buffs Find Williams ‘Royal’

Oklahoma recruit Brandon Williams put on a show Friday night in Giddings. He carried the ball18 times for 259 yards and four touchdowns. Williams scored on runs of 42, 1, 72, and 60 yards. The result was a Brookshire Royal win, leading the Buffs 34 to 31.

Giddings dynamic duo of Eric Rimes and Spencer Fitzhenry rushed for 215 yards and two scores. Dion Hickey took a kickoff back 80-yards and Joseph Glenn zipped 65 and 19-yards through the Royal defense for a scores. The difference in the game was the PAT’s. Giddings converted on one and Royal four point opportunities.

After being behind 7-6 at halftime, Giddings took the lead in the third quarter on Glenn’s 19- yard run. Royal retook the lead on Williams one-yard score after a drive. Hickey then put Giddings back in the lead, returning the ensuing kick off 80-yards. Williams erased the Buff advantage with his 72-yard scamper. It was Fitzhenry’s turn to score as the Buffs again led 25- 21. Proving Williams isn’t the only Falcon that can score, Chris Taylor caught a pass for six. Royal led 27-25. Giddings answered with another drive with Glenn scorching the new turf for 65 yards and the lead at 31-27.

Giddings had scored too soon. Williams scored from 60-yards out for the final TD of the night and a 34-31 lead.

Despite giving up 259 yards to Williams, the Giddings defense held the rest of the Falcon offense to 132 yards on 26 plays.

Many watching the game feel, that Brandon Williams is a very special running back and will see him play on Sundays in the future.
