Freedom Rally No. 1

On Saturday, August 28th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Simmang Park, there will be a Freedom Rally Celebration. Posting the colors will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the local Boy Scouts Post in Giddings. Prayer, pledges, and speeches will begin at 5:05 p.m. Hot dogs, chips, and ice cold ice-tea will be served at 6:00 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., music will be provided by Jimmie and Ollie Dean Siegler and J.W. Riza.

Some of the featured speakers are State Representative Tim Kleinschmidt, State Senator Steve Ogden, Judge Melissa Goodwin, and other candidates. After the speeches, feel free to walk our “Constitutional Walk” around the park to learn about the first 10 amendments. When you participate in the walk, we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes. This would also be a good time for families to walk together to reflect on the rights we have with these “Bill of Rights.”

If time permits, young people can enjoy a great American past time called fishing. Another interesting hobby that we will have at the park is trading and collecting “tea Party” badges and t-shirts. These badges and t-shirts may one day become important artifacts of our American history. These artifacts can be shared with future generations of Americans or with your friends and neighbors.

If there are questions about the event, please call Vance at 979-542- 3882.
