Annual 4-H Awards Program
The 4-H Clubs of Lee County hosted their annual 4-H Awards Program on Friday, August 6, followed by a dance at the American Legion Hall in Giddings. During the program, recognition was given to several Lee County 4-H members receiving top honors for their 4-H participation during the past year.
Several people were recognized for their contribution to the Lee County 4-H Program: Outstanding Club Leader: April Vecera, Lee County Texas Stars 4-H Horse Club.
Friends of 4-H: Floyd and Sharon Urban, Lee County General Store and James Wheat.
Scholarships were awarded by the Parent Volunteer Association of Lee County 4-H. Receiving awards were Scott Mitschke, Mason Vecera, Coby Berger, Amy Markert and Sarah Maass.
Officer installation was held for the 2010-2011 4-H Council. Those serving on the 4-H Council are: Trent Jatzlau, Chairman; Kelly Shows, Vice Chairman; Lauren Maass, Secretary; Whitney Whitsel, Treasurer; Kursten Weeks, Reporter; Tanner Whitsel, Parliamentarian; Zach Rother, Historian; Malissa Sanders, District Council Delegate; and Cody Morgan, Alternate District Delegate.
4-H is open to all children, ages 5-18. Just some of numerous activities available through 4-H include projects such as horse club, consumer shopping, livestock competition and judging, clothing/textiles, food and nutrition and wildlife/fisheries, just to name a very few.

Steers, Commercial Market Heifers and ABC & AOB Heifers will be validated for the Lee County Junior Livestock Show on Sunday, September 12, from 1 pm to 3 pm, at the Giddings Vet Clinic.
