Lady Eagles Split at Cameron
Lexington had a break-even weekend in the Cameron Tourney Friday and Saturday. On Friday Lexington lost to Cameron in pool play. Lexington won the first game of the match but came up short on the last two. The Lady Eagles then dusted Granger for the second time this year in straight games 25- 11, 25-15. The young ladies then beat Rosebud-Lott in three games to place second in their pool.
Saturday the Lady Eagles lost to Franklin in two games 11-25, 20- 25. They beat LaVega in three 13- 25, 25-23, 25-23 to advance to the consolation finals in the championship bracket. Milano topped the Lady Eagles in a hard fought match 20-25, 24-26.
Coach Tiffany Robertson said, “Overall we played well in the tournament. There were times we got down and then there were times the girls looked great. I think we got what we wanted out of the tournament. The games we lost, I think the girls learned a lot about themselves individually and as a team. They realized what it was going to take to compete in our district. Cameron and Rogers - both in our district, played in the championship game but I’m not sure who won. We didn’t stay to watch. Aleece Moerbe had a great tournament with a total of 26 kills. Kelly Hacker got to debut in the tourney and I think she is going to be a great asset to the team this year.”
