Five Blinn Alums to be inducted into Blinn Hall of Honor
August 11, five Blinn Alums are to be inducted into Blinn Hall of Honor. The Blinn College Ex-Students Association announced the 2010 Hall of Honor inductees. They include a Brenham attorney and WWII veteran, a civic-minded insurance executive, a retired accountant and Blinn board member, a longtime Blinn music educator, and a retired Bryan campus vice president. The association honors alumni and others who have contributed to their communities.
The association named A.W. Hodde, Jr., a Brenham attorney and a navy veteran, as Person of the Year. Hodde is a lifelong resident of Washington County and a graduate of the University of Texas and Baylor University School of Law. He was also an instructor at Blinn for many years. Brenham native David Sommer currently serves as president and chairman of the board of the Germania Companies. He is a Blinn and Texas A&M University grad and also serves on the Blinn College Foundation Board of Directors.
Other honorees include CPA Otto Q. Lehrmann, a Blinn and Texas A&M University graduate, who served on the Blinn Board of Trustees and the Blinn College Ex Students Association. For nearly four decades, Larry Campbell has instructed and directed bands at Blinn’s Brenham campus. He is a graduate of Blinn College and Sam Houston State University and Texas A&M University.
Now-retired Brazos Valley campus vice president Dr. Barbara L. Pearson also spent nearly four decades at Blinn College. The North Texas and Texas A&M University grad is only the second Hall of Honor inductee from the Bryan/ College Station area.
