Ruby Jewel Cockrum Gooding
Ruby Jewel Cockrum Gooding was born in Lamar County, Texas on Dec. 20, 1926 to Estel “Preacher” and Estele Cockrum. She was a homemaker and loved working with her church. She was united in marriage to Herman Gooding on April 8, 1947. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin.
Ruby Gooding was preceded in death by her parents, her son Jerry Gooding, husband, and one brother James Cockrum.
She is survived by her son, Herman Gooding Jr. of Giddings; her daughter and son-in-law, Ina and Calvin Mitschke of Giddings; grandchildren, Sharon and Shane Hoffman of Giddings and Michael Mitschke of Giddings; sister, Betty & Maxie McFadden of Holiday and sisters-in-law; Marilyn Cockrum of Iowa Park and Ann Gooding of Channelview. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gooding were held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial followed in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Serbin. Visitation hours were from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home. The family was present from 6:00-8:00 pm.
