Lee County Texas Stars 4-H Drill Team take home Reserve Champion in Theme Drill at the 2010 State 4-H Horse Show.



The Lee County Texas Stars 4-H Horse Club has kept Lee County on the map. For the last three years the Lee County Texas Stars 4-H have brought home Reserve Champion in Precision and Theme Drill at the District and State 4-H Horse Shows. The Lee County Texas Stars 4-H Drill team is made up of only kids ranging in age from 9 to 18. Currently there are two competition teams, a varsity and a JV. These kids are very talented and dedicated. They practice from September to June riding and working on Horsemanship skills and learning new drill maneuvers. In late June they traveled the District 4-H Horse Show in Katy. At District the kids not only compete in the drill competitions but in a number of other events such as speed, Roping, Halter and Working Cow Horse to name a few. At the 2010 District Horse Show the Lee County Texas Stars 4- H Team received Reserve Champion in both Theme Drill and Precision Drill. Members - Haley Schneider received a Champion Buckle in the Speed events, Lane Turner received a Champion Buckle in the Roping events, receiving Reserve Champion in Team Penning were Rachel Edwards, Mason Vecera, and Zach Rother. There were many others that also placed in the top 10 in their event. At the end of July the Lee County Texas Stars 4-H traveled to Abilene for the State 4-H Horse Show. This year the Drill team has again rose above and beyond to earn the placing of Reserve Champion in the Theme Drill Competition at the 2010 State 4-H Horse Show. Also, after the 3rd Go, in Team Penning, members Rachel Edwards, Mason Vecera and Zach Rother proudly brought home 9th place. These two placing are a first ever for Lee County at the State 4-H Level. In their “3 Musketeers” costume the “2010 Reserve Champion State 4-H Drill Team” members are: (in no particular order) Rachel Edwards, Mason Vecera, Leslie Knobloch, Zach Rother, Haley Schneider, Lindsey Knobloch, Sonora Vogelsang, Rachael Wise, Megan Rother, Amber Smith and Kaitlyn Wilkie. Drill Master - April Vecera, and Assistants - Wayne Marecle and Scott Rother. Names for the Lee County Texas Stars 4-H Precision Team members.
