New Alzheimer’s Support Group in Taylor

A new support group for those caregiver’s of Alzheimer’s patients will take place every 2nd Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Taylor Senior Center, 802 Hackberry Street in Taylor.

These support groups are put on by the Alzheimer’s Association- Capital of Texas Chapter & are free of charge. They serve to educate and inform participants about dementia and help caregivers develop methods and skills to solve problems. Support groups encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health as well as optimally care for the person with dementia. There are currently 340,000 Texans that are affected by Alzheimer’s disease, and by 2025, that number is expected to rise to 470,000. Caregiver stress is a closely related issue of Alzheimer’s disease, which is why it is so important that the public know that these support groups exist - so they can seek the help and solace they may need during such a difficult time.
