Erna Meier Stork

February 13, 1922 - July 15, 2010

Mrs. Stork passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings.

Erna Meier Stork was born on February 13, 1922 in Carmine, Texas to Henry & Lydia (Loewe) Meier. Mrs. Stork had been employed as a crossing guard with Spring Branch I.S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Lydia Meier; her son, David Allen Stork; four brothers, Adolph Meier, Herman Meier, Fritz Meier and John Meier; one sister, Emma Lentz and two nephews, Felix Hayslip and Carl Meier.

Survivors include her three children, Gladys Prine of Baytown, Pearly Els and husband, Glenn of Ledbetter and Johnny Stork and wife, Linda of Houston; nine grandchildren, Thomas Pate of Baytown, Lisa Lewis of Baytown, Lori Whiteman of Dayton, Scott Pate of Dallas, Mary Barefoot of Baytown, David Stork of Conroe, Amy Stork of Houston, John McMath of Georgia and Jennifer McMath of Giddings; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Meier of Boerne; nieces and nephews, Lois Coneley of Iola, Darby Lee Meier of Bryan, Guydene Moon of Amarillo, Carolyn Bozwarth of Porter, Mary Hayslip of Houston, Barbara Vahrenkamp of Carmine, Violet Engram of Carmine and Michael Meier of Rusk as well as numerous other family members and friends.

Pallbearers were Calvin Vahrenkamp, Bruce Engram, Doyle Hayslip, Donald Preuit, Lynn Lehmann, John McMath, Thomas Pate, Scott Pate and David Stork.

Funeral services for Erna Stork, 88 of Houston, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2010 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with Rev. Paul Bohot officiating. Burial followed in the Loewe Family Cemetery in Carmine, Texas. Visitation was held on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Stork family was present for visitation Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
