Giddings Healthcare Center Bought by Austin Group

Two private owners based in Austin, Texas, recently purchased local nursing home, formerly known as Giddings Healthcare Center. Fayez Mohammed, 33, and Faqir Ahmed, 33, were officially signed over the property on the first of this month. The facility, now renamed Medstar Care Center, is one of the oldest nursing homes in the city of Giddings.

“We are trying to bring a fresh perspective to the traditional idea of a care center. We want to create a place where our residents enjoy life every day, regardless of their medical needs,” said Mohammed, President of Medstar. “It’s supposed to be a home away from home and we’re committed to making it just that for our residents.”

Medstar is a more intimate facility, housing only fifty certified beds. They accept patients with wide range of needs, from shortterm rehabilitation to those who need a more long-term arrangement. Along with Medicare and Medicaid, they also accept private patients.

“The size of this facility is another reason we loved it. We can provide customized, personal care to our patients. We want to build a relationship with every resident and every family that comes through our door,” said Ahmed, Vice President of Medstar. “We are looking forward to being an active part of the city of Giddings and we intend to be a positive asset to the community.”
