Sports Thoughts…

by Mike Organ

The Lexington baseball team is still getting in some at-bats in the summer league. The playing experience is invaluable in the future.

The Rangers beat the Astros five of six games to win the ‘Silver Boot’ in the in-state rivalry, if you want to call it that.

Soccer teams will be loaded this year as World Cup fever will cause an upswing in participation. The sport is an excellent sport for younger kids to get their cardiovascular activity. Lexington has soccer fields that are used quite regularly by teams.

Not sports. Robert Johnson, the football videographer for Lexington, teaches at McDade. He called and was ecstatic because 100% of his 18 eighth graders passed their TAKS test in Math and Science. He teaches both disciplines.

It is 31 days to the start of football practice. It seems like school was just out. (it was).
