Jessica Parish, Lexington’s outstanding catcher/shortstop/ pitcher was chosen to the All- State softball team by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Parish, a senior, is headed for East Texas Baptist University in Marshall for softball next season.

Parish batted .533 for the Lady Eagles this season. She hit nine home runs, most coming before the second round of district play, because of the opposition pitching around her. Parish had four triples, 17 doubles, and 18 singles distributed among her 48 hits. Jessica drove in 51 base runners with .594 batting average with runners in scoring position. Jessica also pitched in nine games for the Lady Eagles. A 5-1 record with a save was the positive result. She struck out 39 of the batters faced, posting a 0.78 ERA for the season.

The All State selection comes on top of being selected to the All- Brazos Valley team by the Bryan- College Station Eagle and a second team All-Centex honor by the Austin American Statesman. There could possibly me more honors coming Jessica’s way as more all-star team selections are announced.

Parish will be joining an East Texas Baptist team that won the NCAA Division III national championship in May. The Lady Tigers finished third in the American Southwest Conference to make the conference tourney. They won the conference tourney from the losers’ bracket defeating Louisiana College in the championship game. ETBU then won the national championship with a 5-4 walk off win over Linfield Oregon in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Parish is expected to be an impact player for ETBU next season. Could a national championship be in her future?
