1920 -1940 Lexington Weddings

It is always good to remember our past, this is the second edition of

Bernhard “Ben” August Moerbe and Emma Louise Rackel were married November 16, 1913 in Lincoln, Lee County, Texas. They were the parents of Leonard Moerbe and Walter Moerbe. Grandchildren surviving are Gene Moerbe of Dime Box, Walter Moerbe, Jr. of Lexington, Larry Moerbe of Lago Vista and Drexel Moerbe of Houston. PICTURE PROVIDED BY JENNIFER DANE. Louis Gerhardt Beisert and Minnie Marie Hohle Married on September 17, 1930 in Loebau, Texas. They were blessed with 12 children: Alvin, Marvin, Robert, Ruben, Grace, Alfred, Ernest, Gladys, Elna, Janette, Corine and Helen. Nine children are still living today. Louis and his first wife, Melita, were blessed with seven children: Freida, Eleanor, Clara, Willie, Lorene, Leona and Ester, of which three are still living. PICTURE PROVIDED BY JENNIFER DANE. Albert and Willie Mae Prater Drews Parents of Elder B. Drews Orsag and Melvin, both born in Lexington. Albert established the Drews Hatchery in 1942 in Giddings. Their son, Melvin, died in 1942 and Elder B. married Alvin Orsag (now deceased) in 1946 and they moved to Lexington, where she still lives today. William Sterling Dowdy and Germania Hester (Monnie) Germania Hester (Monnie) was the daughter of Lillie Louisa Wolf Hester and John Peter Martin Nichola Bismark Hester. She was born February 7, 1870. She married in her parents home on June 28, 1892. Monnie had graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor College. They owned and managed the Hester/Dowdy Store from 1896 until his death in 1909. Monnie continued to run the store until 1917. She died August 1, 1942. Grandchildren of this couple that still live in the Lexington area are Clara Grace King Holcombe Sherrill, Bill Dowdy, and Paulson Schultz.
