Scam Artists Working Phones

Lexington’s Chief of Police, Randy Davenport, warns area residents about people posing as debt collectors calling and targeting senior citizens. The people making the phone calls claim to be collecting unpaid medical bills and demand that the so-called debtor give them their social security number. Most of the people they call are senior citizens.

Davenport said, “If these people call you, do not give them any of your personal information, especially your social security number. This is an obvious scam and we want our folks to be aware of this potential threat. If you have any problems with callers or if you have a question, do not hesitate to call my office.”
