Barnikow Wins Runoff Election

Lori Barnikow Lori Barnikow Lori Barnikow won the runoff election for Lexington City Council last Saturday, June 12. She faced Sam Scoggins after both of them received 97 votes in May’s general election.

Barnikow said, “I really appreciate everyone who took time to vote. In particular, I learned how important early voting is to the system. Sam was a good contender and I appreciate how hard he worked. I am humbled by the support of our community.”

Barnikow received 43 votes during early voting and 23 votes last Saturday. Scoggins received 20 votes during early voting and 22 votes on Saturday. Lexington City Council has called a special meeting this Wednesday to canvass the votes and to swear in Barnikow, who will begin her second term on the council.
