Vivian Hunsinger, 88 of Lexington passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at her home in Lexington.
Vivian was born March 27, 1922 in the Tracy Community near Rockdale, one of eight children of James Richard and Rosa Lee
Griffieth) Hobbs. She has lived in Lexington over 30 years.
Vivian was a waitress for 36 years at Singers Grill, A1 Cafe, City Cafe in Rockdale, the Railroad Cafe in Dickenson and other cafes. She attended the Baptist Church and enjoyed her yard work, gardening, quilting, crocheting, canning vegetables, making jelly and taking care of her chickens. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and was an avid domino player.
On May 13, 1998, she and Bennie Hunsinger were married in Thorndale. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2004. Also preceding her are her parents; a son, John Wesley Mauldin; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Roberts; Brothers, Earl Hobbs, Rudolph Hobbs, Elmer E. Hobbs, Richard Hobbs and William Barkley Hobbs and sister, Ollie E. Tyler.
Surviving; Sons, Grant Mauldin and wife Sharon of Temple, Glenn Mauldin and wife Jeanese of Tanglewood, Thomas Carl Mauldin and wife Mary Ann of Tomball. Daughters, Kathy Cohlmia and husband Jack of Andrews, Betty Sue Bowen and husband Spud of Sheppard. Sister, Esther Simpson of Lexington. Special nephew, Mike Hobbs of Lexington and a number of other nieces and nephews. 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery. Rev. Jeff Jones officiated.
Visitation was on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the funeral home in Rockdale.
Pallbearers were; Grant Mauldin, Glenn Mauldin, Thomas Carl Mauldin, Mike Hobbs, Fredrick Dickson, Coleman Mauldin, Jerry Collins, Wesley Hobbs.
