Laura Marie Zschech

January 2, 1919 - June 4, 2010 January 2, 1919 - June 4, 2010 Mrs. Zschech passed away Friday, June 4, 2010 at Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.

Laura Marie Dube Zschech was born on January 2, 1919 in Fedor, Texas to Emil & Emma (Domann) Dube. She was baptized on January 6, 1919 and confirmed on April 17, 1932 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. She was united in marriage to Monroe J. Zschech on July 9, 1944 also at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. Mrs. Zschech was a homemaker who also had worked at Giddings High School for 10 years. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings where she was a member of the Ladies Aid, the LWML and volunteered in the Braille Center. Mrs. Zschech enjoyed gardening and was a longtime member of the Giddings Garden Club. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and taking care of her cat, Carlie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monroe; daughter-in-law, Barbara Zschech; two brothers, Walter Dube & Richard Dube and a sister, Gertrude Zschech.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Alan Zschech of Lexington; her daughter, Mary Ann & Gary Blair of Houston; four grandchildren, Laura Blair of Houston, Lana Blair of Houston, Gus Zschech of Lexington and John Zschech of Lexington; two sisters-in-law, Josie Dube of Corsicana and Katie Dube of Giddings and brother-in-law, Edwin & Leola Zschech of Spring. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Laura Zschech, 91 of Brenham and formerly of Giddings, were held on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Walter Dube and Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in Giddings Memorial Park. Visitation was held Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Zschech family was present for visitation Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
