Elgin 2010 Juneteenth Celebration

The Elgin 2010 Juneteenth Celebration begins Thursday with Movie Night at Thomas Park and continues Friday with a Street Dance at Veterans’ Memorial Park. On Saturday the Grand Parade starts at 8 a.m. at Booker T. Washington Elementary School, 510 Martin Luther King Blvd. Don’t miss the Color Guard Ceremony, which will be performed in the park by the historical Buffalo Soldiers, following the parade. Vendors will offer a variety of food, arts and crafts, entertainment and fun activities for the kids during the day.

Western Days Festival

The 41st Annual Western Days Festival will be held in historic Elgin, Texas the week of June 21 - June 26, 2010. There will be fun activities for all ages, culminating on the grand finale day of Saturday, June 26th

Giddings Firemans’ Celebration

The Annual Firemans’ Celebration will be held on July 4 at the Fairgrounds. Don’t Miss the Fury on the 4th PBR Bull Riding!

La Grange “The Great Chalk Walk”

June 5 from 10am-1pm “The Great Chalk Walk” Art Contest will be held on the sidewalks of the old jail in La Grange. $5 entry (under 3 free). There will also be face painting, moon walk, snow cones, spin art and more. Sponsored by The Art Guild of Rural Texas, Fayetteville. Call 979-378-2113 for more info.

“Port Smoothies” and Tours/Tasting

June 5 & 6 (Sunday-Noon-5) We will have a combined “Port Smoothies”, our award-winning Rosso Fortes & Blue Bell French Vanilla ice cream, a fudge swirl, whipped cream, chocolate chunks and you’re “In Heaven” and the Regular Tours & Tasting. This will be held at the Pleasant Hill Winery, Brenham.
