Lily Laura Nafzger Krugler

August 12, 1923 - May 26, 2010 August 12, 1923 - May 26, 2010 Mrs. Krugler passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.

Lily Laura Nafzger Krugler was born on August 12, 1923 in Olton, Texas to Sam & Margaret (Zurfluh) Nafzger. She was baptized at her parents home on September 16, 1923 by Rev. E.H. Wilms and confirmed on August 30, 1936 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plainview, Texas by Rev. C.A. Gaertner. Her confirmation verse was Psalm 37 verse 4. Lily was united in marriage to Rev. Emil F. Krugler on June 14, 1948 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in in Olton, Texas by Rev. Nolan Obermueller. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Paul, Mark, David, Beth and Ruth. Pastor & Mrs. Krugler’s ministry lead them to serve Lutheran church congregations in Hobbs & Lovington, New Mexico, Layton, Utah, Cicero, Illinois and Giddings & The Grove, Texas before his death on May 17, 1983. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Awaiting to greet Lily in Heaven were her parents; her husband and the love of her life, Rev. Emil F. Krugler; her infant brother, Samuel Nafzger; her brothers and sistersin law, Arthur & Pauline Nafzger, Will & Grace Nafzger, Paul & Mildred Nafzger and Ralph & Esther Nafzger; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret & Vern Fent and Esther & Earl Springer as well as numerous other relatives of the Nafzger and Krugler families.

Lily is survived by her five children; Paul & Tandy Krugler of Austin and their daughters, Rachel & Rebecca; Mark & Patricia Krugler of Giddings; David & Tina Krugler of Southlake, Texas and their daughters, Haley & Jessica; M. Beth Krugler of Ft. Worth and Ruth & Chris Carpenter of Taylor and their children, Carrie, Robert & Jeffrey; brother-in-law, Rev. Richard Krugler of Rochester Hills, Michigan; three sisters-in-law, Ruth & Roy Brockopp of St. Louis, Missouri; Leona Davis of Chicago, Illinois; and Marge Krugler of Fairmont, Minnesota as well as numerous other relatives from the Nafzger and Krugler families.

Serving as pallbearers were Don Nafzger, James Medack, Alton Weiser, Kenneth Sjogren, Robert Carpenter, Paul Tharp, Max Thomas and Jeffrey Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Bittner, Ralph Mutscher, Dr. John Gres, Bill Krugler, Gary Jenke, Mark Capps, Glenn Wachsmann, Rev. John Davis and Dan Schaefer.

Funeral services for Lily Krugler, 86 of Giddings, were held on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Sam Nafzger and Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings Memorial Park. Visitation was held at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
