Memorial Day
Some things in life always bring a lump to the throat - the birth of a newborn child - the loss of a loved one - the sight of a military casket draped in the flag of the United
States of America - and the witnessing of a 21-gun salute. Sunday afternoon, there was nary a dry eye and, without a doubt, not one throat without that proverbial lump,
when a crowd of over 100 people gathered on the Square in downtown Lexington to
witness a riffle team pay honor to the most heroic of our nation - those who fought and paid the ultimate price for the freedom we all enjoy. Lexington’s American Legion
Post 6 hosted a 21-gun salute, the first of what is hoped will be an annual event on
Memorial Day. Thank you, American Legion. God Bless America.
