Juanita Charlynn Allen

March 31,1925 - May 20,2010 March 31,1925 - May 20,2010 Charlynn passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Country Care Plex in Giddings.

Juanita Charlynn Holtkamp Allen was born on March 31, 1925 in Giddings, Texas to Charles & Wilhelmine Pauline Charlotte (Umlang) Holtkamp. She was baptized on April 13, 1925 and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. G.W. Fischer. Charlynn graduated from Giddings High School in 1942 and attended Blinn College in Brenham from 1942-1943.

She was united in marriage to Roy O. Allen Jr. on May 19, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Max Studtmann. Charlynn worked as a billing clerk for the American Red Cross at Camp Swift in Bastrop, Texas during WWII and retired from Bluebonnet Electric in Giddings where she had been employed as a billing clerk for 31 years.

She was an active member of the Ladies Aid at Immanuel Lutheran Church, a member of the Giddings Sons of Hermann Lodge #54, the American Legion Auxiliary Post #276, the VFW Auxiliary Post #4475 and the Lee County Senior Citizens in Action.

Charlynn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons-in-law, Gene Delemater and Dwain Booher and two sisters, Hermina Marburger and Sydonia Miller.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Booher of Bryan; her son, Roy “Buddy” Allen III of Giddings; her grandson, Michael & Amanda Booher of Bryan; her three great grandchildren, Shavon, Kyley and Wyatt Booher, all of Bryan; her sister, Catherine Amoroso of Giddings as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Roy “Buddy” Allen III, Michael Booher, Ken Arldt, Sonny Mitchell, Scott Mitchell and Dave Gill. Honorary pallbearers were Tim Pitts, Vernon Simpson, Leslie Smith and Stephen Mitchell.

Funeral services for Charlynn Allen, 85 of Giddings, were at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Keith Aschenbeck officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings Memorial Park in Giddings.
