Lexington High Athletics in Review

by Mike Organ

The Lexington High School athletic year came to a close Saturday afternoon in Mike Myers stadium in Austin. The year concluded with a lot of ups and downs as in every year of competition. The highs were playoff teams in football, basketball, softball, tennis players, and state competitors in track.

Other highs were the improvement of the Lady Eagles volleyball and basketball programs. The teams played the season with players that will return to LHS for at least one more season.

Younger players were asked to make significant contributions in serious competition. Sometimes they did and other times were not quite as successful. With another year’s high school play under their belts, they should be much improved in the 2010-2011 starts in early August.

The lows will be fewer in the upcoming year as new leaders take the place of the departing players. Look for great things from LHS athletics next season.
