Sheriff ’s Report

May 10, 2010

Deputy York assisted B&M at a call on Hwy 77 North after a caller reported that he was struck by a vehicle’s side mirror while he was walking down the highway. There were no visible markings on the subject as to him being hit.

A resident on CR A reported that he received a call from a neighbor letting him know that there was a white Ford Excursion near his residence. Deputy York searched the area but did not locate any vehicle matching the description.

Deputy Lapham assisted Trooper Thorp in attempting to locate an 18- wheeler that was reported to be dumping large amounts of gravel along Hwy 290. The 18-wheeler was located at a local gas station.

A caller reported that cows were out on CR 111. Deputy Durrenberger was able to locate the cattle and ran them back into a pasture and off the road.

A local business owner reported a suspicious vehicle on his place. Deputy Ray was dispatched and ran the VIN number and found out who the vehicle belonged to.

May 11, 2010

The Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a man who was riding a 4- wheeler in the middle of FM 696 between CR 306 and CR 308. Deputy Robertson searched the area but did not locate anyone riding a 4-wheeler.

Deputy Lapham spoke to a complainant regarding a problem he was having with the neighbors. Their cattle continuously get on his property, had messed up some hay bales and ate the bark off a tree they had just planted. They will attempt to pen up the cattle if they get on their property again and then the auction barn will pick them up.

A complainant spoke to Deputy Crockett about someone possibly using his personal information to get a credit card account. Investigation continues on this case.

May 11, 2010

Deputy Crockett responded to a theft on CR 453 in Dime Box. A report was taken and the investigation continues on this case.

A resident on CR 117 reported seeing a lot of smoke coming from somewhere close to her property but she could not tell where because of the high wind. Deputy Robertson checked the area.

A caller reported that he had a large grass fire on his property on CR 214. He advised it was spreading quickly due to the wind and getting close to an oil well. South Lee County Fire Dept was dispatched along with Giddings Fire Dept.

May 13, 2010

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a tenant at Westwood Villa Apartments requesting a Deputy because there was a scorpion in her apartment. Deputy Ray was able to help and removed the animal.

Deputy Lapham was dispatched to a domestic disturbance at 4135 E. Austin. The altercation was a verbal argument only. One of the parties involved left the residence to avoid any further problems.

A complainant came to the Sheriff’s Office and spoke to Deputy Lapham regarding a theft case. A report was taken and charges were filed. Warrants are pending at this time.

Deputy York assisted with traffic control on Hwy 21 in Dime Box. A semi truck driver was attempting to load a dozer from the road and needed assistance.

Deputy Robertson, Deputy Lapham and Deputy York assisted at the scene of a one vehicle rollover on Hwy 21 west of FM 2440. No one was transported to the hospital.

A caller reported that she had an argument with her mother and wanted to talk to a deputy. Deputy York was dispatched and reported that everything was fine.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a hospital advising that a male subject was accidentally shot in his foot by a pellet gun. Deputy Robertson spoke to the nurse. A report was taken.

A resident on CR 327 reported that someone had broken into his barn and took some items. Deputy Ray was dispatched and a report was taken.

May 14, 2010

Deputy York took a theft report from a resident on CR 109. The caller reported that someone had entered his storage barn and took some property without his permission.

A motorist reported several cows out on CR 118 between the church and the creek. Deputy Ray was dispatched and ran the cows off the roadway.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a woman stating that she had received a call from her mother-in-law stating that she had taken a handful of pills and had been drinking wine. She would not give her location. Deputy Ray and Deputy Aderhold were given a description of the female and the vehicle she was driving. Later that night the caller reported that Fayette County had located her and she was okay.

May 15, 2010

A motorist reported a Suburban had run off the road on Hwy 21 East near CR 453. No one was injured. Deputy Ray advised dispatch that there was no property or vehicle damage. The parents of the driver are on their way to pull the vehicle out of the ditch. A trooper was not needed.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Giddings Police Dept. to assist them in locating a vehicle that was stolen from Washington County. The vehicle was located by Deputy Aderhold on CR 133.

Deputy York responded to a one vehicle accident on CR 400 in Dime Box. There was no property or vehicle damage and a wrecker was called from Caldwell by the driver.

Deputy Robertson and Deputy Lapham responded to a burglar alarm on CR 119. Everything was secure and the owner was notified.

A resident reported that someone had stolen her 4-wheeler. Deputy York responded and report was made. The 4-wheeler was entered into the TCIC computer.

A motorist reported that cows were out on CR 138. Deputy Robertson was dispatched. The owner was notified and the fence was repaired.

Deputy Ray responded to a one vehicle accident on FM 696 East. There were no injuries and the driver was given a blue form to fill out for their insurance.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle that was sitting at the gate of a local business. Deputy Ray reported that the vehicle had left prior to his arrival. He checked the business and everything was secure.

While on routine patrol Deputy Ray advised that there was high water on CR 326 between the bridge and CR 327. The commissioner was notified and was going to check it out.

May 16, 2010

Several motorists reported that there was a large object in the roadway on Hwy 290 East @ CR 233. Deputy Ray responded and advised it may have been a desk at one time. It was scattered all over the Hwy and he got all the large pieces off the roadway.

Deputy Aderhold and Deputy Ray were dispatched to a disturbance at the Westwood Villa Apartments. The caller reported that her ex-boyfriend was outside her apartment intoxicated and yelling. She advised she had him served with a criminal trespass warning.

A motorist reported that there was a vehicle on Hwy 290 East approx 2 miles out. The flashers were on and the driver was attempting to flag people down. Deputy Aderhold advised that they had run out of gas. Deputy Aderhold gave them a courtesy ride to a gas station.
