Giddings Police Report

May 10, 2010

Officer Cummings was on patrol along with Officer Griffin when they initiated a traffic stop in the 900 block of West Austin Street. The passenger of the vehicle Guilfredo Rene De Leon was in possession of an open container of alcohol. When asked for his ID, De Leon provided a fictitious Texas drivers’ license. De Leon was arrested and charged with Displaying/Possessing a Fictitious Drivers License.

May 11, 2010

At approximately 8:17 p.m., Officer Cummings conducted a traffic stop at the 1100 block of East Austin on a black Chevy Tahoe bearing TX license plate 52MCF2 for a defective passenger side break light. Later, the department found out that driver Koshima Kyoko Newton had a suspended license. Newton was cited for Driving While License Invalid/Suspended and was released.

May 11, 2010

At approximately 11:50 p.m., Officer D. A. Griffin initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation occurring in approximately the 1700 block of W. 290 (Austin) W/B. The driver, Cody Allan Gifford of League City, was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/Suspended and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and released. No other information.

At approximately 3:53 p.m., a wallet was turned into the police department and later returned to the owner. Case closed.

May 14, 2010

At approximately 8:17 p.m. Officer D. A. Griffin initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation occurring in approximately the 2400 block of E. 290 (Austin) W/B. The driver, Erika Munoz Palominos of Elgin, was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid/Suspended and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. No other information.

May 15, 2010

At approximately 1:04 a.m., Sgt. Anthony Ramirez was dispatched to Buc-ee’s store located at 2375 E. Austin St. in reference to theft of alcohol. Upon arrival, he met with the complainant identified as Jason Dismuke. He stated that a white male subject that is under age took a case of 12 oz. Budlight. During investigation, subject was identified as Jeremy Gordon. Gordon came back to Buc-ee’s and was issued a citation for Theft under $50.

May 15, 2010

At 1:11 a.m., Sgt. Anthony Ramirez, along with Officer Derek Griffin, was informed by the Giddings Police Dispatcher of a stolen vehicle that just occurred in Washington County and possibly enroute to a club in Giddings, Texas. The vehicle was described as a Gold Nissan Altima, four door, bearing Texas License Plate #3BT-PF. The vehicle was later located at Buc-ee’s located at 2375 E. Austin Street while the Officer was on a call for service for Buc-ee’s in reference to a theft. Dispatch confirmed the stolen vehicle through the TCIC and NCIC. The driver of the vehicle identified as Roy Lee Johnson, 38, Burton, was taken into custody for Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle. A passenger, later identified as Brandon Patterson, 20, Burton, was also taken into custody for two outstanding felony warrants from Washington County. While apprehending the two subjects and securing them in the patrol unit, a third person escaped in the vehicle that was reported stolen. During the course of the investigation, it was learned that there was a third person in the vehicle identified as Gregory Lockett, 48, Ledbetter. It was later learning that the vehicle went down County Road 133 to Patterson’s brothers’ residence. With the assistance of Lee County Sherriff Deputies, they were able to locate the vehicle as well as Lockett. Lockett was placed under arrest for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Patterson was also charged with Fail to Identify- Fugitive, and Lockett and Johnson were charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle. All three subjects were transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department where they were processed and booked. Tillery’s wrecker service towed and stored the vehicle at the Giddings Police Department’s impounded.

May 15, 2010 At approximately 1:44 a.m., Officer D. A. Griffin initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation occurring in approximately the 1600 block of E. 290 (Austin) W/B. The driver, Tyler Matthew Silwa of Hutto, was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence by a Minor and taken to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Three (3) passengers of the vehicle, identified as: Cody Alan Schuetz, Brittany Alissa Cool & Hudson Clay-Price Evans, all of Hutto, were released, but will be summoned by the Giddings Municipal Court at a later date for Minor in Possession- Alcohol and Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor. No other information.

May 16, 2010

At approximately 12:54 a.m., while on routine patrol, Officer Hernandez and Officer Griffin observed a vehicle traveling west bound on E. Austin. The driver of the vehicle failed to signal intent within 100 ft. before turning into N. Harris traveling north bound. The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of N. Harris and E. Brenham. The driver failed to maintain financial responsibility. The driver also had a suspended driver’s license. He was transported to Lee County Jail for booking.

May 16, 2010

At approximately 9:40 a.m., Officer Nicholas Bridgefarmer responded to a reported Burglary at Dr. J’s (215 West Railroad Street). Several attempts were made to enter the premises, but nothing was reported stolen/ missing by the complainant.

May 16, 2010

At approximately 8:44 p.m., while on routine patrol, Officer Hernandez and Officer Griffin observed a vehicle traveling west bound on E. Austin/Hwy. 290 with a defective front headlamp on the driver’s side and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver of the vehicle was later arrested for Driving While Intoxicated w/Child Passenger and Open Container. The driver of the vehicle also did not have a valid driver’s license and failed to maintain financial responsibility. He was transported to LCSO jail for booking. While at LCSO jail the driver of the vehicle was confirmed to be wanted by Bastrop County for Leaving the Scene of a Collision in which he was also charged.
