Lexington native, Representative Tim Kleinschmidt is seen being sworn in as a Lieutenant in the Texas State Guard. State Representative Tim Kleinschmidt (R-Lexington) was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Texas State Guard (TXSG) last week.

Rep. Kleinschmidt will serve as the Judge Advocate General (JAG) for the Maritime Regiment (TMAR) and will serve under the command of Brigadier General Robert “Duke” Bodisch.

“Public service is a special calling, and the State Guard has a proud tradition of service to Texas,” said Kleinschmidt. “I want to be a part of a special unit that makes our communities stronger and safer, and that provides critical resources and expertise in the midst of crises.”

Governor Perry is the Commander and Chief of the TXSG, which can be activated and deployed to respond to man-made or natural disasters. Members of the TXSG are not subject to federal deployment, but have been utilized frequently for disasters in Texas, and occasionally outside of Texas.
