Peterson Wins A&M’s Erwin Award

Lexington 2005 graduate, Jordan Peterson, was named one of the recipients of Texas A & M’s prestigious Bill Erwin Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award at the 20th Annual CHAMPS Awards Banquet held on Wednesday, May 5.

Peterson, who played defensive back for the Aggie football team, was the male athlete Erwin Scholar winner, sharing the limelight with Aggie golfer, Ashley Freeman.

Peterson, who played at Lexington High, graduated from A&M in May 2009 with a degree in sports management and is working on his master’s degree in educational curriculum and instruction. During his playing time with the Aggies, he earned multiple Academic All-Big 12 honors and was on ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-America all-region team, despite multiple injuries suffered throughout his football career.

Jordan is the son of David and Debbie Peterson of Lexington.
