Clint Hutson in the 110 meter hurdles and the long jump, Courtney Jackson in the discus, and Julien Clark in the high jump will compete in the 2A State Track Meet this coming Friday and Saturday. The State Meet will be run at Mike Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin.

Hutson will be defending his championship in the 110 meter high hurdles, which he won last year. Hutson ran a 15.07 in winning the Region IV championship Tuesday afternoon, May 4. The 15.07 has Hutson ranked third in the list of state qualifiers. A 14.84 is the best time coming to Austin. Clint has run faster than that in most every meet this season. The 2A 110 meter hurdles will be run at 12:55 Saturday.

In the long jump, Hutson jumped 22’3 ¾” to place second in Region IV. This jump also has Hutson ranked third in the event based on qualifying jumps. Hutson will jump at 12:00 noon on Friday.

Jackson will be making her second trip to the State Meet. Jackson won the Region IV title with a 126’ 6”. That toss ranks as the best, coming to the final meet of the year. She had three tosses of 125’10”, 126’1”, and 126’6” in her last three throws at Regional. She was very consistent in her throws, increasing her length with each throw.

Clark is one of the best jumpers in the state but his 6’4” leap in winning the Region IV championship has him rated as the seventh best jumper. Clark cleared 6’8” earlier this season. He will need to clear that height in Austin if he is to bring home a medal.
