Gene Willie Brinkman
Gene Willie Brinkman was born on July 29, 1933 in Lexington, Texas to August Albert & Minnie Lydia (Ahrendt) Brinkman. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1952 and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Gene worked as an auto mechanic at Brinkman Chevrolet in Lexington before going to work as a piping specialist with Topaz. He enjoyed playing dominoes, dancing, hunting, nature and living on his farm. He loved being around kids, especially his grandchildren, and was known to many as “Uncle Gene”.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Kimberly Brinkman.
He is survived by his sons, Scott & Kimberly Brinkman of Rockdale and Brian Brinkman of Buna, TX; eight grandchildren, Braidon Brinkman of Buna, Jordyn Brinkman of Rockdale, Xavier Brinkman of Rockdale, Hailey Brinkman of Rockdale, Alyssa Brinkman of Rockdale, Cade Brinkman of Buna, Bridgett Brinkman of Rockdale and Madalynne Brinkman of Rockdale; step mother, Bernice Brinkman of Lincoln; two sisters, Joycelyn Fudge of Lexington and June & Louis Seidl of Walnut Springs; brother, Lee Brinkman of Burleson, two step brothers, Mutt & Natalie Cherico of Lexington and Terry Cherico of Rockdale; three nieces, seven nephews and many more great nieces and great nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Butch Brinkman, Jimmie Wiggins, Mike Stalworth, Randy Seidl, Terry Seidl and Leonard Seifert.
Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington or to the charity of one’s choice.
Funeral services for Gene Brinkman, 76, of Lexington, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington with Rev. Leif Hasskarl officiating. Burial will follow in the St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Lexington.
