Sheriff ’s Report

May 3, 2010

Chief Deputy Kothmann met with a complainant who reported that their tractor had been stolen from their property during the weekend. A report was made and the farm equipment was entered into the TCIC/NCIC computer. Investigation continues on this case.

A caller reported several cows out on Hwy 77 North. Deputy Lapham responded and ran the cows off into a pasture.

A complainant reported that someone was using his social security number to apply for a credit card. Chief Deputy Kothmann took a report.

May 4, 2010

The Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call reporting approx 6 cows out on CR 402. Deputy Lapham and Deputy Durrenberger were able to run the cows off the road.

A motorist reported that there was a large black dog on Hwy 21 @ FM 141 that was on the roadway. Deputy Lapham and Deputy Durrenberger were dispatched and located the dog. They reported that the dog was old and ran it off Hwy 21.

A complainant reported that a vehicle was broken down and left abandoned near his driveway on Hwy 21 East. The vehicle made it difficult to see the traffic flow so he could get onto the highway. Deputy Durrenberger responded and ran the license plate to make sure it was stolen and then requested the next rotation wrecker to tow the vehicle.

A caller reported a disabled Snapple Truck in the westbound lane of traffic on Hwy 290. The caller advised that they do have their emergency flashers on but may need assistance. Deputy Robertson and Deputy Easley responded and provided traffic control until a wrecker arrived.

A resident on CR 415 called and reported a suspicious truck near her residence. Deputy Ray was dispatched and located the vehicle. The driver stated that they were working on an oil rig and had to drive down the road to get cell phone service. Everything was okay.

May 5, 2010

A motorist reported cows out on FM 696 approx. 2 miles from the Blue Fire Station. Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched.

Chief Deputy Kothmann responded to a bank alarm in Lexington. The building was checked and all was okay.

Deputy Easley was dispatched to a residence on CR B after a caller reported that someone had stolen various items from her property. A report was made and investigation continues on this case.

May 6, 2010

A caller reported that a white truck pulling a horse trailer pulled into his driveway and parked behind his vehicle. The vehicle turned around and went back out the driveway turning onto FM 2239. Deputy Robertson located the vehicle and reported that the driver missed his turn and went into the driveway in order to turn around.

Captain Gonzales, Deputy York and Deputy Robertson assisted Washington County in attempting to locate a green extended cab Ford truck that was occupied by a white male that had attempted to kill his 19 year old son. Suspect was possibly armed with a semiautomatic handgun. Suspect was also suicidal. Washington County notified Lee County that the driver’s phone had been tracked and was in Harris County.

A resident on CR 227 called and requested assistance because she had a snake in her kitchen. Deputy Easley responded and took good care of the snake.

Deputy Easley assisted at a rollover accident that occurred on Hwy 77 just south of Tanglewood.

May 7, 2010

Captain Gonzales and Deputy Aderhold assisted at a two vehicle accident on Hwy 77 North approx 6 miles North of Giddings


The Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding a fight in progress at the Bullpen on CR 217. Captain Gonzales and Deputy Easley were dispatched. The fight had dispersed prior to the officer’s arrival and most of the people had left.

May 8, 2010

While on routine patrol Deputy Aderhold noticed a door open at a local business. He stopped and checked the building and found the office door was also open. He turned off all lights and secured the doors. The owner was notified


Chief Deputy Kothmann spoke to a complainant regarding a civil matter. The complainant was attempting to get his horse off someone’s property but the property owner was refusing to give it back unless he paid money that was owed.

Deputy York checked on a suspicious vehicle on CR 211. A caller reported a small truck parked on their property. Deputy York advised that it was a subject that worked on an oil rig that is on the property.

The Sheriff’s Office received an alarm call at a local business. Deputy York was dispatched and advised that everything appeared secure.

Union Pacific notified the Sheriff’s Office that 4 subjects were riding the train on FM 448. Chief Deputy Kothmann and Deputy York located the subjects and identified them. All 4 subjects were trying to get a free ride to California. Deputy York gave them a courtesy ride to the county line.

A motorist reported that there was a horse lying in the ditch on FM 141 @ CR 430. Deputy Easley spoke to some of the trail riders and they advised that the horse just got overheated but was okay.

A caller reported a white car that was partially in the roadway on CR 117 and no one was around. Deputy Easley and Deputy Carvin got in contact with the vehicle owner who reported that his cousin was driving it and ran out of gas.

May 9, 2010

Deputy Aderhold was dispatched to check on an abandoned vehicle on CR 205. The owner was on sight and advised they had run out of gas and had some on the way.

A caller reported a possible prowler on Scenic View. She saw a tall white male, wearing shorts in her front yard. Deputy Aderhold searched the area and did not locate anyone. A close patrol of the area will be put into effect.

Deputy York was dispatched to CR 223 to put up two horses that were running loose on the roadway. A few minutes later a caller advised that the two horses were on her property.

A subject reported that a female took her vehicle without her permission last night. The vehicle was at a residence on CR 114. Deputy York spoke to the female and arrested her for felony warrants out of Anderson County. Subject was booked into Lee County Jail.

A motorist reported a white car parked on the side of the roadway on CR 133. Deputy York was dispatched and located the vehicle driving down the road.

Deputy York was dispatched to Drosche Lane to check on three subjects walking around the neighborhood. They were gone prior to the deputy’s arrival.

A motorist reported cows out on CR 118 near the railroad tracks. Deputy Ray was dispatched and was able to run them off the roadway.

JAIL REPORT Jail Count: 05/09/ 2010: 46 Males: 41 Females: 5

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office investigated 1 Assault, 3 Family Violence Assaults, 8 Burglaries and 5 Thefts.

This week is the 11th annual Lee County Fair. May everyone have a safe and enjoyable time.
