I am excited about the upcoming season for the Lee County Area Team Swimmers (LCATS). Each year seems to get better and better and I have enjoyed watching our team succeed. Not only are we winning titles at the Invitational RED, WHITE, & BLUE postseason meet in Houston, but the success of each individual swimmer is amazing. I have had the opportunity to watch all ages from 5 all the way to 18 become awesome competitors as well as improving their skills and meeting their personal goals for stroke technique and personal best times.

Our swimmers have intense workouts Monday-Thursday and compete locally and away, on Saturday mornings, against teams from Brenham, Bryan, College Station, Huntsville, and Navasota. Our Division is just one part of an entire league (NWAL) from the Houston area, which includes over 14,000 swimmers. As you can see, we have a lot of competition. It says a lot when our team, being unknown from Lee County, has won the Small-Team Division Championship for the last 2 years out of the 3 that we have been affiliated with NWAL.

Last year, the LCATS began awarding scholarships to high school seniors who have swum with the team all 4 years during high school. It is challenging to devote time to the team during these 4 years when you have so many other activities and commitments. Our board members feel it is important to recognize their hard work and dedication to the team as well as encouraging them to pursue further education.

This year our team will begin its season on April 26th at 5pm at the Giddings City Pool. Our registration will close on April 29th.
