This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and each LISD campus has something special planned for their teachers. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Chuck Holt, will do his part to show appreciation by frying fish for the 84 teachers in the district. He will be cooking for the Middle School and High School on Thursday and for the Elementary School on Friday.
At the Lexington Elementary School, the Parent Teacher Organization brought pizza for the teachers on Tuesday. Monday, teachers at Lexington High School were treated to $100,000 candy bars and Pay Day candy bars. At LHS, teachers will continue to get daily surprises throughout the week.
Teacher Appreciation Week is dedicated to the celebration of teachers worldwide.
At the last LISD Board of Trustees’ meeting, members adopted a resolution that calls on the community to join with it in personally thanking and recognizing teachers for their dedication and devotion to their work. To this end, Teacher Appreciation Week is one opportunity to officially show our gratitude.
Next week, the Leader will salute Teacher Appreciation with pictures of many of the teachers in LISD.
