Early Voting Underway
Early voting for the upcoming City and School Board elections started this week and will continue until May 4. Two people have signed up to run for Lexington Mayor, incumbent Robert Lee Willrich, Sr. and longtime resident Chester Smith.
Three people have signed up to run for two positions opening up on the City Council. Incumbents William D. Langehennig and Lori Barnikow are running to keep their spots on the Council, but are being challenged by Sam Scoggins, a relatively new resident to the City but who says has years of experience communicating with people in small communities.
Three people are on the ballot for LISD Board of Trustees. Two positions are open, with only one incumbent running for re-election. Alan Turner, incumbent, is wanting to keep his job as a Trustee; however, current Trustee Kimberly Oppermann did not sign up to run again. Turner is running along with Russell Iselt and J.C. Washington, both of whom have lived in Lexington for many years.
The actual polls for both elections will be held Saturday, May 8.
