Lexington Garden Club News
April 8, garden clubbers went on a field trip to the Luminant Plant off 696 West. The program was given by staff members who gave a most interesting and outstanding talk on how the land is restored after lignite is removed from it. The hospitality shown to us was greatly appreciated.
Members proceeded to Elgin, Texas for lunch at the City Café. Following lunch, the group enjoyed a shopping spree at Bloomer’s Nursery filling cars with beautiful plants.
The next thing on the schedule was a trip to the “Huntington Sculpture Gardens in Coupland, Texas, which was enjoyed by all.
On April 20, members met on the square at 9:00 a.m. for pre- Homecoming clean-up.
May 1 is Homecoming in Lexington. There will be a Plant sale and a Barbecue Sandwich sale. Please volunteer to help.
May 13 is our “Annual Yard Tour”. Meet at Beverly McMurrey’s at 8:30 a.m. for breakfast. Co-hostesses are Ruth Marquardt, Edna Rabe and Lorena Rackley. A pot lunch will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Parrish Hall. Hostesses are Millie Wester and Sally Colonna.
