After the Lady Eagles defeat Lago Vista Tuesday night it will be like Yogi Berra said, “It’s déjà vu all over again.” Lexington and Rogers tying for the District 25- AA softball championship is just like last year. I wonder if the playoff game will be in Thorndale again? In any case, keep your ear to the ground so you can be there to cheer the Lady Eagles on in the playoffs. It won’t be an easy journey, but they just might have things fall their way this year.
We have three excellent shots at going to state in track and field. Clint Hutson is the returning state champ in the 110 meter hurdles. Julien Clark has one of the best jumps in the state in 2AA at 6’8”, and Courtney Jackson went to state last year and is throwing better this year. Three gold medals in one year would be a record I think.
This is not saying the other regional qualifiers can’t get to State, just that it is more unlikely. It would be nice for them to prove my thinking wrong!!! The Astros have finally won few games. They still have a long way to go to have a respectable record. The Rangers pitching is not up to President Nolan’s standards. There will be some changes because Mr. Ryan is used to good pitching. He will get some for the Rangers somehow I think.
The Longhorns are on a roll in baseball. They blasted the Aggies Saturday. They may be as good as advertised for once. I hope Texas or Rice will bring home the NCAA championship. It belongs in Texas.
