Lee County Fair Seeks Individuals with Artistic Abilities

Adults who enjoy making crafts are encouraged to enter the Lee County Fair Arts and Crafts Show. Competition is open to all Texas residents, 18 years and older.

The cost is $10 per person, with unlimited entries. Paid entries include a day pass to the Fair. Entry forms are available at the Lee County Extension office at 310 South Grimes in Giddings or on the web at http://lee tx.tamu.edu. Preregistration ends Monday, May 10. Entries will be received on Wednesday, May 12, between 8 am and 9 am, at the Lee County Extension Office, in Giddings.

Earlier drop-off of entries can be arranged by contacting the Lee County Extension office.

Entries will be placed on display at the Lee County Fair Arts and Crafts Exhibit. The exhibit is opened to the public each day of the Fair; Friday, May 14, 10 am to 9 pm, and Saturday, May 15, 10 am to 8 pm.

Categories include: Visual Arts, Creative Arts, Scrapbooking and Clothing, Needlework, Handwork.

The Visual Arts category includes paintings, photography and drawing/charcoal. Creative Arts will showcase wood and metal crafts, jewelry, painted items, ceramics, decorated wearables, wreaths, wall decorations, collections, dolls, and more.

Scrapbooking may be individual books or civic club books. Clothing/ Needlework/ Handwork will be a competition of homemade crafted items including all wearable clothing, vests, jackets, needlepoint, cross-stitch, embroidery, plastic canvas, latch hook, knitted wearable, crochet, Afghans, pillows, as well as vintage needlework/handwork.
