The Lexington Eagles opened at 2-0 in the top of the fourth, stretched it to 7-1 with a five-run fifth and then held on for an 8-6 win over the homestanding Florence Buffaloes.

Lexington scored the first two runs of the game on a single by Chance Sherrill, followed by a triple from Kaelan Blok, and an RBI single by Tyler Moerbe.

Jacob Carr got things going in the fifth, Dylan Iselt followed with a single, Chace Sherrill singled home a run, Chance singled, Blok singled, and Moerbe singled home the fifth run to give Lexington a 7- 2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. Florence sent 10 batters to the plate in their half of the inning. The Buffs closed the score to 7-6 after scoring four runs and making the third out with the bases loaded.

Lexington got an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning on a single by Chance Sherrill and Blok’s RBI double.

Blok came in for the bottom of the seventh inning in relief of Josh O’Conner, who pitched the first six innings. Blok retired the Buffs in 1,2,3 order to earn a save and for a Lexington victory.
