Commissioner’s Court

During the Regular Meeting of the Lee County Commissioner’s Court, the Commissioners approved all the procedures for ratifying the Professional Service Contract with Wiss, Janey, Elstner Associates, Inc. covering the repair of the Court House restoration work. They also approved a Contract with Wiss, Janey, Elstner Associates for the repair itself and for meeting all the necessary deadlines imposed by the State Historical Commissions for completing the work. This will be a multi-year process to rectify improper work done during the earlier Courthouse Restoration done several years back, which is now the cause of the large cracks in the walls and floors of the building.

In other action, the Court proclaimed the Month of April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. It was reported to the Court that statistics show that one in five women and one in 20 men are victims of sexual assault at some point in their lives, and that this is a preventable offence.

The Court also proclaimed April 25 to May 2, 2010 as Habitat Stewardship Week and April 27, 2010 as Conservation Day.

The Court took no action concerning CR 119, since the presenters were not present. The Court also took no action on changing the County Maintained Road Mileage reported to the Texas Department of Transportation because the figures have not been verified.

The Court also authorized the County Judge to sign the Issuance of Bonds and the Plan of Financing Thereof, so funds can be obtained to finance home mortgage loans to persons qualified by the Capital Area Housing Finance Corporation. There is no liability to the County involved with this action.
