Salado Pops Lexington

by Mike Organ

For the second time in a week, Lexington spotted another team a 5-0 lead before starting their offense. This time it was Salado that held on for a 9-5 win.

The first four Salado batters that came to the plate scored. Three walks, two errors, and four hits allowed five runs to score in the inning as Salado sent 10 batters to bat in the first.

Lexington finally got on the board in the third. Dylan Iselt walked, stole third after Chace Sherrill walked and came home on a wild pitch. The next Lexington runs came in the sixth inning. Chance Sherrill doubled to lead off and Tyler Moerbe followed with a home run after Salado had opened an 8-1 lead.

Salado topped off their scoring with one in the top of the seventh. Lexington rallied with a single by Brandon Meyer, a single by Dylan Iselt, and a two RBI double by Chance Sherrill.

Once again Lexington let the game get away from them by falling behind early and not being able to catch up.

With the loss, Lexington is in a must win situation the rest of the season if they are to make the playoffs.
