Lady Eagles Romp Lago Vista

by Mike Organ

The Lady Eagle softball team romped over the Lago Vista Lady Vikings (Helga) 17-8 Saturday morning. Lexington scored three in the first, four in the second and eight in the fourth innings to put the game out of reach.

Jessica Parish got the offense started with a hard hit single in the first. Shelby Tackett and Courtney Robertson followed with singles also. Haley Jatzlau capped the inning with a two-run double as Lexington batted around in the first inning.

In the second Ashton Johnston reached on a lead off error. Megan Scantlin singled, Parish was walked intentionally, Tackett walked to force in a run, and Robertson doubled home two. Jatzlau picked up another RBI with a ground out.

In the fourth, Robertson led off with a single, a walk to Jatzlau, and a Marley Ross double got the outburst started. Mackenzie Brown singled home a run and toured the bases courtesy of Lago errors and a Johnston single. Scantlin reached on an error as Johnston scored. Parish was walked as the Lady Vikes totally took her out of the game with pitches rolling across the plate or wide of the plate. Tackett doubled and Robertson singled to plate more runs. Two more LV errors allowed Robertson to score.

Lexington struck for two more runs in the seventh inning after Lago had closed to 15-8. Brown reached on a one-out single. Scantlin reached on an error as Brown scored. The third walk to Parish put runners on first and second. A passed ball on the catcher allowed Scantlin to move to third and home.

Robertson was the winning pitcher for Lexington.
