Backyard Flocks Conference in Lexington

A unique opportunity for backyard poultry flock owners and others interested in poultry, incubation, or rodent and insect control on their acreage, is set for Friday, March 26 - Sunday, March 28 in Lexington.

A conference focusing on small flocks and related topics will feature speakers from the Texas A&M Poultry Dept., a Delaware State University Poulty Science specialist, representatives from Ideal Hatchery, and a rodent control/insect control expert from Ivesco Poultry.

Topics include: Alternatives to Antibiotics; Rodent Control/ Insect Control, Incubation, Gamebirds, Anatomy, Avian Influenza status and plans, Small- Flock Management, Soil Amending for Healthy Grass/ Healthy Animals, and a Tour of Coyote Creek Farm, a sustainablyrun farm in Elgin and one of the primary sources for organic feed in Central Texas.

The conference and activities are open to all interested parties; fee to attend is $35-$45 ($16 for a single day) and includes lunches and refreshments.
