April 30 through May 2, the first ever Luckenbach Shuffle slated for 14th Annual Hill County Run Motorcycle Rally. The Hill Country will come alive with the sound of roaring engines and motorcycles in all shapes, colors and sizes.
On Thursday, April 29, at 6:30 pm you are invited to an informal social gathering at Hondo’s on Main featuring live music and a Rally food special in the outdoor gazebo in downtown Fredericksburg. On Friday and Saturday, registration begins at 9:00 am with more live music; and, also, on Friday will be Hill Country Ride.
Saturday and Sunday begin with a Cowboy Breakfast; later sandwiches and cold drinks, all of which are include in the fee of $45. Proceeds from the Hill Country Run go to fund Fredericksburg Optimist Club projects, including the T-Ball Program, Scholarship Program, Pioneer Memorial Library Reading Hour Program, Tri-Star Sports, Oratorical Contest and Essay Contest.

Galveston Galveston Historical Foundation Historic Homes Tour
Galveston Historical Foundation’s 36th Annual Historic Homes Tour will celebrate historic Galveston’s green revival during the weekends of May 1/2 and 8/9, 2010. The Galveston annual Historic Homes Tour is one of the most popular homes tours in the entire United States.
Among 10 houses that will be opened to the public during the annual historic homes tour is the “Green Revival House,” an 1890s shotgun style house being restored by GHF in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The house is one of the first in the nation planned to give the public a vivid look at how energysaving and “sustainable” building and landscaping features are becoming essential and affordable parts of all restoration blueprints.
The tour also emphasizes “historic green architecture,” the building methods developed to make homes more comfortable before the luxuries of electricity, municipal water systems and natural gas were widespread.
Smithville Little League Opening
Saturday, March 27, Little League Opening Ceremonies will be held at the Little League fields on MLK. Games will follow.
Smithville Body Burn Bun Run
Saturday, April 3 the Body Burn Bun Run, a 5K run/walk begins at 9 am beginning in Smithville and ending at Pocket’s Grille, 205 Fawcett. Registration, $25 for adults and $10 for children under the age of 10, includes water, fruit, a good bag and massage chairs. After the run, there will be a party held at Pocket’s. The proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and is in memory of Beverly Bayer. For more information, call 512-304-8171.
Rockdale MARC Run
On April 10, the 9th Annual MARC RUN will be held at The Ranch, 415 W. US 79 with all proceeds going to the Milam Association for Retarded Citizens. This group is a non-profit that assists people of Milam County that have physical or mental disabilities.
Fayette County Round Top Festival Hill

Junior Livestock Show
The Fayette County Junior Livestock Show will begin its annual exhibit of animal projects. Check-in will be on Thursday and showing of all project animals on Friday. Saturday will be the Heifer Review at 2:00 pm and the Auction Sale at 2:30 pm. The public is invited. Oh, Yes! There will be food!
Bastrop McKinney Roughs Boat Float
On Saturday, March 27, beginning at 7:00 pm, You can have a peaceful ride on the McKinney Roughs Light O’ the Moon Float Trip. It begins with a sunset on the water as your raft is gently guided down a moonlit stretch of tranquil river. Bastrop Opera House
Friday and Saturday, April 9-10, the Bastrop Opera House will feature “Always….Patsy Cline”, directed by Chester Eitze and starring Terry Lyne Moore as Patsy Cline. Performances begin at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15, reserved seating. Call 512/321-6283.
Giddings Junior Livestock Show
March 26 – 28 the Lee County Junior Livestock Show will be held at the Lee County Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo Area with the sale scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 pm. Events include the broiler show, poster contest, rabbit show, horse show, and commercial heifer show on Thursday.
Friday will be the market lamb show, market goat show, Lee County Sheriff’s Posse Scramble Heifer Show, and the steer show. Saturday will be the pee wee swing showmanship, livestock judging contest and the buyer’s get-together.
Each year hundreds of young people from Lee County participate in this event, which offers them opportunities to learn animal skills, crafting skills, cooking skills and more. The public is encouraged to attend.
