Robert “Bob” Hord, Sr.
Robert “Bob” Hord, Sr. died on March 9, 2010. He was born July 17, 1927 in Maryville, Tennessee to Fred and Mary Hord. He lived in Rockdale since 1952. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He took a leave of absence from high school to serve. Bob completed high school after his discharge. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rockdale, and he worked as a Laboratory metal tester for ALCOA, Rockdale Operations.
On June 17, 1949, he and Grace Coffey were married in the First Methodist Church in Alcoa, Tennessee. To this union four sons were born.
Bob passed away while in the Renaissance Villa in Rockdale, reaching the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Hord on May 1, 2007. Two sons, Don Travis Hord on November 18, 2009 and Cleve Nevin Hord on October 29, 1977.
Surviving are: Sons, Robert Hord, Jr. and wife Joy of Palestine and Michael David Hord of Rockdale: three brothers, Charlie Hord of Palestine, Ray Hord and Tom Hord both of Alcoa, Tennessee: sister, Mary Neil of Alcoa, Tennessee: six grandchildren Lindy, Robert, Jenna, Maggie, Ben and Amber: and, two great grandchildren, Hunter and Robert Austin.
Graveside services were held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale with Rev. John Warren officiating.
