Rebecca Sue Harrison Baker
Rebecca Sue Harrison Baker passed away Monday, March 9, 2010. She was born on February 16, 1941, wife of Gerald Lee Baker, of Bandera and Paige, TX, She was born and raised in Houston, TX, daughter of Sam G. Harrison and Lena Estelle Huebotter Harrison.
Rebecca graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Psychology. She was a 50 year sister in the Delta Gamma Sorority. She was the major force behind the formation of the Reach to Recovery benefitting the American Cancer Society and was the founder of the Ride for Research, which benefitted the same cause. One of her life long passions was breeding, riding and showing Paint and Quarter Horses in local and national competitions. She also loved trail riding with her friends and family. A true Texas cattle rancher, she and her husband Jerry have run a successful cattle outfit for 39 years. Rebecca was an active member in the Bandera United Methodist Church and enjoyed the fellowship and company of the “cut-ups”. After moving to Bandera, Rebecca realized her dream of home design and interior decorating. Always the lady, poised and graceful with a mischievous twinkle in her eye, a song in her heart and a smile to the world.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Bandera, TX; brother, Sam Harrison, Jr. of Houston, TX; Mrs Ellen White of Chappell Hill, TX; daughters, Holly Ann Baker of Seligman, AZ; and Heidi Lynn Wyatt of Pipe Creek, TX; and a large family of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at Bandera United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 2:00PM, officiated by Mr. Don Giles and Reverend Everett Boyce. Interment was at the family ranch in Bandera, TX..
