Stolen UHaul Ends Up in Lee County
Last Thursday, March 11, at 11:35 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a person in Dime Box who said a UHaul truck was on fire at the entrance to his driveway on CR 426. Deputy Garrett Durrenberger was dispatched, along with the Dime Box Volunteer Fire Department.
When the VFD arrived, they put the fire out, but the vehicle had been totally destroyed. An out of state license plate was found at the scene and the Sheriff’s Office ran a check on it to find out the owner of the vehicle. It appeared that the vehicle had been dumped at the scene and no witnesses saw how the fire had been started.
The next day, the Bryan Police Department contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and told them the vehicle was stolen out of Brazos County and the investigation continues. No suspects have been found in the case.
