Lexington 2nd @ Rosebud-Lott

Makes it to Championship Round
by Mike Organ

For the second week in a row, Lexington made it to the championship game of a baseball tourney. Unfortunately the results were the same as Lexington lost in the finals. This week they lost to Salado 6-0 after defeating Lorena, Jarrell, and Rosebud-Lott.

Thursday- Lexington defeated Lorena after being tied on the scoreboard at six. According to the tourney rules the team getting the most runners to third base would be declared the winner. Lexington got one runner to third that did not score, Lorena did not get any. Jacob Carr got Lexington’s only extra base hit with a double in the first inning. Lexington’s other seven hits were singles.

Friday- Lexington defeated Jarrell the same way as Lorena. The teams were tied 4-4 at the drop dead time. This time Lexington had two runners to third that did not score, Jarrell had none. Josh O’Conner had a double to lead Lexington. Once again the other seven hits were singles. The second game of the day was against host Rosebud-Lott. Lexington outlasted the Cougars 10-9. The Eagles survived a giant six-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning. Carr highlighted the first inning for Lexington with a threerun homer. O’Conner, Colby Berger, Chace Sherrill, and Carr doubled for Lexington. Carr had four RBI’s in the game.

Saturday-Lexington left their hitting sticks at home. The Green Eagles could only get four singles off three Salado hurlers in the championship game. Salado had a big fifth inning scoring four runs that put Lexington down 5-0.
