Texas Wildflowers and Native Grasses

Above is an early peek at some Texas Bluebonnets, which will soon be covering Texas roadsides. The Gideon Lincecum Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist will sponsor a FREE program on Texas Wildflowers and Native Grasses on Saturday, March 20, 2010, beginning at 1 p.m.

The program will be held at the Winedale Historical Complex Conference Room located at 3738 FM 2714, just four miles east of Round Top.

Carolyn Fannon will be the main speaker on wildflowers with her topic being Texas Flowers in the Wild. She will present photo- graphs of familiar and rare wildflowers with an emphasis on the places where they grow and their plant associations.

Flo Hannah, Senior Sanctuary Steward of Houston Audubon Society, will speak on native grasses. Her top is Native Grasses of the Tallgrass Prairie. She will discuss the value of native grasses and how they can be cultivated.
